Read Across America Week at Washington was filled with lots of fun activities, thanks to our amazing librarian, Ms. Bird. Students and staff engaged in fun themed dress down days, buddy reading, book bingo, scavenger hunts, guest readers, a special visit from our Kearny High girls basketball team and much more!

Washington School PreK classes had such a Picture Perfect Celebration with our Camera Study. We got to share our photo albums, take pictures in our Photo Booth and use our cameras with each other. It was so fun learn all about photography 📸🤳🎞️

Washington School students celebrated Black History Month by learning about artist and author Faith Ringgold. With the help of our librarian, Ms. Bird, students heard Ringgold’s story, Tar Beach, and each made a square for a class quilt. The beautiful quilts are hanging on the main floor of Washington School so be sure to check out them out!











On Thursday night, Washington School 5th graders participated in their LEAD graduation. Thank you to Officer Brady and the Kearny Police Department for all you do for our 5th graders and for our Washington School Community!











Miss Sansone’s writing students from Washington held an “Undesirable Items Expo,” where they put their persuasive writing skills to the test. They did their best to convince customers to purchase items such as pet rocks, cars without wheels, man-eating plants, and more!











Our district data teams recently came together to present mid-year benchmark assessment results. Through collegial discussions, our team members analyzed student growth, highlighted key learning trends, and developed instruction strategies to support skill mastery.

Congratulations to our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from Washington School who received Honors & Principal’s Honors for Marking Period 2!






Students in Mrs. Molina, Mr. Flannery, and Mrs. Walsh’s classes from Washington delved into the solar system using Metaquest. They have been studying various aspects of the solar system, focusing this week on the distances between the planets and the sun, as well as the sizes of each planet relative to the sun. The Metaquest provided an immersive experience, allowing students to investigate the galaxy and observe the orbits of the planets and the sun. Additionally, they visited a planetarium where they discovered numerous fascinating facts about each planet.
