Washington School 6th graders received their yearbooks today! Thank you to the PTA for funding the yearbooks and their yearbook party!

Today, Washington School proudly celebrated our 6th grade LLD students with a special Moving Up Ceremony. As they prepare to begin their middle school journey, we reflected on the incredible growth, achievements, and memories they have made as Warriors. A heartfelt thank you to our families, staff, and everyone who helped make this year such a wonderful and successful one. Congratulations to our students on this special milestone! We can’t wait to see all the amazing things you will accomplish in middle school.

Mrs. Ameri, Mr. Bauer, and Mrs. Mirigliani's third graders from Washington celebrated all they accomplished this year at West Hudson Park! It was so much fun and the perfect way to spend a hot day! ☀️

Washington School held their 3rd annual Rock, Paper, Scissors Competition this past Friday. This year, the kids got in on the fun! It was great to see teamwork and healthy competition. Congratulations to Mrs. Franchino’s class coming in with 177 beads and Ms. Hill’s class coming in with 117! 🪨 📄 ✂️

Students in Mrs. Walsh’s, Mr. Flannery’s, Mrs. Molina’s, and Mrs. Ruthman’s classes from Washington recently wrapped up their life skills unit with a visit to LifeTown Shoppes! Students had the opportunity to practice a variety of important real-world skills, including greeting employees, asking for assistance, purchasing movie tickets, ordering popcorn, and demonstrating safe street-crossing habits. While exploring the different shops and activities, students gained valuable hands-on experience that helped build their confidence, independence, and community awareness. Today Washington had their LLD K-Family and Me Spring Music Show! Thank you Mr. Burzynski for putting this special event together!

Last Friday, Washington School students were proud to participate in the KPD Torch Run that supports the Special Olympics!

Washington School held their own World Cup in honor of the games coming to New Jersey. The tournament took place over 3 days with Team Brazil winning the Washington World Cup. This was an awesome school wide event with hand drawn signs, students decked out in soccer gear, and teams excited to compete. Kearny is called Soccer Town USA for a reason! Last week, Washington School’s chorus traveled to the Prudential Center in Newark and combined their voices with over 6,000 students from schools around the NYC region. This exciting “American Young Voices” concert was one of the largest annual children’s choir performances in the world! Thank you to Mr. Burzynski for giving our children this amazing experience!

Mrs. Martinez and Mrs. Crawford’s classes from Washington proudly released their butterflies after watching them grow and transform throughout our life cycle study. The students were so excited to see their hard work and observations come to life as the butterflies took flight! What an unforgettable hands-on learning experience for our young scientists. 🌸☀️🦋

Students in Mrs. Curry’s KEEP Class at Garfield School showed off their technological know-how at the school’s STEM Fair.

Students in grades 3-6 collaborated to create inventions designed to engage, inspire, and make everyday life a little more efficient. From coding with Twister, to a sip counter, to a mood-tracking lullaby stuffie, Garfield’s young innovators demonstrated creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving at every turn. 💡✨

The World Cup is coming to New Jersey soon, but the real games to watch are happening at Washington! First round is taking place today, second round on Friday, and finals on Monday. Huge thank you to Mr. Postel for running our first Washington World Cup! ⚽️ 🥅
