Washington School is ECSTATIC to announce our Teacher of the Year (Mrs. Peso) & Educational Service Professional of the Year (Ms. Von). Mrs. Peso is a 1st grade teachers currently, but has also taught 2nd & 6th grade during her time at Washington. Mrs. Peso is an innovative and hands on teacher who makes her classroom a fun and friendly environment. Ms. Von is a Speech Language Pathologist at our school. She helps give her students a voice and helps them express themselves! We are honored to celebrate them and are thankful of their contributions to our Washington School community! 💙❤️
Our Washington School Preschoolers are having bushels of fun in Mrs. Gawronski-Smyth and Mrs. Lucia’s class. They followed a recipe to make applesauce for the Tree Study. Our preschoolers were measuring and mixing, cooking and tasting! Parents and guardians play such an important role in the development of a child and our Preschoolers had such a great time learning how to cook from 2 of our parents!

Congratulations to our 4 Washington School PreK teachers! They underwent a very rigorous review and were awarded 4/5 stars by the New Jersey State Department of Children and Families, Education, Health, and Human Services! Thank you to Mrs. DaSilva-Brown, Mrs. Stahl, Mrs. Cadena-Sanchez, and Mrs. Gawronski-Smyth for providing such quality learning for our Preschool students!

Washington School had their 3rd annual Thanksgiving Eve Parade today. The 3rd & 4th graders did a spectacular job with their balloon creations!
Mrs. Molina's 4th grade class from Washington has been learning about different cultures and traditions in Social Studies. They had the opportunity to present the history of their culture to the class in forms of photos, artifacts and clothing!

Today Mrs. Hornung’s class from Washington School carved a class pumpkin and learned what the inside of a pumpkin looks and feels like!

Washington School hosted their annual Pumpkin Contest. We are always so astounded by how creative our students and families are! The contest is a favorite of ours because it brings such joy and excitement to the students and staff all week. Check out the pumpkin entries & winners. We like to say although everyone didn't win a prize, they're all true winners for brightening up the hallway with this fun school wide activity!
Washington School students in Mr. Burzynski's music class from this week learned about the Theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments, invented about 100 years ago. The Theremin is most famous for providing other-worldly sound effects for science fiction movies, so students experimented with the theremin after singing with the picture book “The Aliens Are Coming!”

Washington School is celebrating 6 years since creating our School Store! The School Store is a great incentive program and allows all staff members to give out School Bucks for a variety of reasons (kind acts, academic achievements, etc). We utilize the store to also teach students the value of a job. The 5th & 6th graders apply and work in the store and even receive a “paycheck”. Check out some of our classes shopping for the first time this school year. Thank you to Laura Hempel for decorating our School Store to celebrate our 6th year!
