As part of our Gratitude Week celebration, today we are celebrating the district bus drivers who start and end each school day with a smile. No matter the weather or the route, they greet our students with patience, kindness, and steady care.
Thank you to our transportation team for every safe ride and every warm welcome. We are grateful for all you do. 💛🚌

Kindergarteners in Ms. Benenati's class at Garfield School are always learning through arts and play.

In every corner of our district, there are people who show up with heart, dedication, and quiet strength — often without the spotlight they deserve. This week, we are taking a moment to celebrate them.
We are starting with our incredible security team. They greet the earliest arrivals, watch over our buildings long after the last dismissal, and bring comfort simply by being there. Their steady presence keeps our schools safe and allows our community to thrive.

Could you make a nest for baby birds? 🐣💭 Ms. Benenati’s kinders at Garfield School did just that—turning toilet paper, tissues, string, cotton balls, leaves & twigs into cozy bird nests as part of their “Animals Changing Their Environment” science lesson. 🌿🧵🍂 Seeing little hands problem-solve and care for nature was pure magic. ✨ What would YOU tuck into a nest to make it safe and comfy? 👇 #KindergartenScience #HandsOnLearning #Birds #STEMforKids #GarfieldSchool #NaturePlay

Check out these wearable works of literary art!

Garfield School: Mrs. Bifulco's 2nd grade authors started their writing lesson with the funny animal story, "Click, Clack, Moo," to inspire their own silly tales. The students worked individually and used peer conferencing to add to and refine their creative stories. We can't wait to read these funny and creative masterpieces!
Garfield School: Ms. Seeley and Mrs. Gallagher-Figueroa’s 2nd graders are building strong math foundations! They engaged in a strategic lesson focused on adding and subtracting within 100. Happy Veterans Day! Garfield PEERS got creative and teamed up with Mr. McShane’s art classes to design artwork for our local veterans. Students created thoughtful pieces to hang up in the school and to hand in as gifts. The PEERS also invited 5th and 6th graders to write heartfelt letters of appreciation to thank our veterans for their service.

Saluting the heroes who served our nation. #VeteransDay
