The Board of Education proudly announced a special honor for Mr. Viscuso at the April board meeting, with his family present. In recognition of his many years of dedication to the Kearny High School Athletics Program, a dedicated space named Viscuso Hall will be created as part of the athletic trophy case renovation, expected to be completed in August. Mr. Viscuso was very surprised and deeply honored by this gesture!

Students from Roosevelt Elementary, Garfield Elementary, and Lincoln Middle School were recognized during the April 28th board meeting for their participation at this yearās Hudson County STEM Showcase and NJIT eSTEM Competition. The Kearny School District is proud to celebrate their creativity, innovation, and dedication to STEM and congratulates them on their outstanding achievements.

Kearny High Schoolās Success students welcomed spring with their annual gardening project, a hands-on experience that nurtured both academic growth and social connection. Our young botanists explored the process of planting seeds and took pride in watching their flowers ā and confidence ā bloom. Thank you to Cali Carting and Moran Towing for their continued support of our students.

The Franklin ABA & PSD classes began their 2nd Annual Spring Activities Day with a classroom visit by the Easter Bunny. The students then participated in several fine motor and gross motor activities with the assistance of the Peer Leaders. They also had the opportunity to work on vocabulary words (e.g., "look," "throw," "match," etc.) using picture symbols. They ended the day with a fun Easter egg hunt!







On Wednesday April 23, KHS students visited the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Oxford, NJ. Students toured the facility, learned about the rainbow trout that are raised on site and then stocked in public waters across the state. In addition to a tour of the facility, raceways (concrete holding tanks) and nursery, students learned how to cast and fish on site at the hatcheryās educational pond. Students learned about fishing, forestry and natural resources and it was an educational and recreational fun day!

First-Ever Spanish Spelling Bee!
On April 22, 2025, we hosted our very first Spanish Spelling Bee, following the official National Spanish Spelling Bee rules! Eighteen amazing students competed across 7 intense rounds.
