Garfield School is proud of our Student Council for organizing a cereal drive to benefit the local food pantry network, and we are even more grateful to our families for making it a success. Thank you for your generosity and for teaching our students the importance of supporting our neighbors. Together, we are making a difference!

The Garfield School Student Council did an excellent job organizing the Valentine's Day Dance for our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. It was wonderful to see our students come together and have such a great time!

The Kearny School District honors Presidentsā Day as we reflect on the leadership, vision, and service that have shaped our nation. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, āIt is true of the Nation, as of the individual, that the greatest doer must also be a great dreamer.ā In our schools, we see the leaders of tomorrow. May we continue to inspire our students to dream boldly and lead with courage and integrity.

KH S students in Mr. Vega's Honors Forensic Science examined how impact velocity affects the size and shape of blood spatter (not splatter!) droplets.

šØReminder: All Kearny School District Schools will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026 in observance of President's Day.

Garfield School was proud to honor our amazing crossing guards today! They enjoyed coffee and donuts courtesy of the Garfield School PTA, while our students presented them with handmade cards, certificates, and a special poem read by the Student Council.
Thank you to Kearny PD Lt. David Rakowski and the Hudson County Improvement Authority for coordinating this special district-wide event. We are so grateful for all our crossing guards do to keep us safe!

No matter the weather, these individuals show up to ensure the safety of our students and families.

Congratulations to Haley Felix for an outstanding performance at this yearās NJ Poetry Out Loud Region 6 competition: Hudson, Bergen, Passaic Counties.
Haley made it to the third and final round and did an amazing job reciting her three poems. Her hard work and dedication to this unique opportunity landed her a spot in the top ten. This was no small feat as the NJ P.O.L. representative pointed out that this yearās competition was a tight race and the most talented she had seen in her five years of holding the position. One of the judges was originally from Kearny and she made sure to go up to Haley and let her know that she did a great job representing Kearny High School. We are very proud of Haley and all of the students that participated in poetry Out Loudās special 250th Americana themed competition this year.
