
Washington School PreK classes had so much fun at the Turtle Back Zoo a few weeks ago! They went on a train ride, feed giraffes, got to pet sting rays and see their favorite animals 🦒🐧🐵🐅🐍🐄🐖









Mrs. Bedoya's students are now authors! They were excited to publish a book of their work and there is even a copy in our school library for other students and staff to enjoy!



The second graders of Washington School took a field trip to Brookhallow farm. They fed goats, cows, sheep, geese, chickens, bunnies, llamas, donkeys, and horses! The kids took a tractor and train ride, and played at the playground and sandboxes around the farm. They had the best time!











Mrs DiGiovanni & Mrs Gryckiewickz’s first graders from Washington ended the year with a publishing party to celebrate the completion of their nonfiction books. They researched an animal using books from the library as well as safe search engines. Finally, they made nonfiction texts using various text features!!








The LLD program at Washington had a transition day! They got to visit the teacher and classroom they will have next year!










Washington School had a special visit from Plory from iReady. He came to hand out certificates and congratulate students who had shown the most progress this school year! Way to grow!

Washington School fourth graders visited the Kearny Library! The students enjoyed reading books with their friends and explored the Kearny Museum! They even got to relax in their outdoor patio! They had a lot of fun and learned so much about the history of Kearny!

The students in Mrs. Mirigliani’s class from Washington went camping last week! 🏕 They read camping stories, worked in their tents with flashlights, and even built their own campsites!









Washington K & 1 classes had a very special visit today! Mrs. Kryshak-Baptista and her KHS ESL students read to our students and worked on cool art projects! Our students had an amazing time and were also happy to sing Happy Birthday to their new friend, Vítor! The KHS students even got a chance to shop at our super cool school store! 📚💚🎨 Special thank you to Ms. Varela & Mrs. Kryshak-Baptista for coordinating this event!

Washington School 6th graders had a blast on their Funplex trip! 🌞








Washington School preschoolers in Ms. DaSilva and Mrs. Gawronski-Smyth's classes took a trip to Turtle Back Zoo last week, where they visited attractions like the touch tank, saw the prairie dogs, took a train ride and enjoyed an outdoor lunch. Students were so excited to see all different types of animals from different areas of the world and even got a peek into what the different habitat needs are of each.


Ms. Hill’s 6th graders from Washington completed a STEM project that involved building bridges to withstand weight!











Mrs. DiGiovanni’s and Mrs. Gryckiewicz’s students from Washington were challenged by Ms. Bird to build sun shades for LEGO people using just notecards, tape, and straws. They were so creative with their use of materials!
