Introducing Lucas: A shining example of Lincoln Middle School’s values. Nominated by our staff for the Caught Being Kind award, Lucas, alongside a fellow student, ensured a lost dog found its way home safely by bringing it to the fire department.
This is what it means to be a part of the LMS and Kearny community.

Today's post is a double celebration of Throwback Thursday and International World Teacher Day. Let's take a moment to admire these vintage Lincoln Junior High School Cheerleading uniforms, lovingly preserved by Mrs. Gross and displayed by students Salwa and Ayden. These uniforms have graced the walls of Mrs. Gross's classroom for over a decade at LMS, but they hold a deeper story.
Mrs. Gross's cheerleading journey was profoundly influenced by her advisor and PE teacher at the former Lincoln Junior High, Mrs. Loughridge. Under Mrs. Loughridge's guidance, Mrs. Gross learned life-changing lessons in self-confidence and self-expression. These uniforms, proudly on display in room 102, symbolize the lifelong impact teachers have on their students.
Mrs. Loughridge, upon her retirement, gifted Mrs. Gross one of the only two megaphones she kept from her coaching days. This act shows that students impact their teachers as well.
As we look back on this Throwback Thursday and celebrate International World Teacher Day, let's honor the teachers who mold our lives and the students who, in turn, shape theirs. 📚🎓 #EducationMatters #TeacherImpact #WorldTeacherDay

🌟 School is back in full swing, and we're loving every moment at LMS, just like Luca D., our talented 7th-grade graphic designer who created this, believes. October brings new opportunities and the promise of wonderful things ahead. Let's keep the spirit of enthusiasm alive. 🍂

Meet Ms. Glenn and Mrs. Hemphill: Passionate, Loyal, Smart, Talented, Dedicated
In the ever-evolving realm of education, teachers frequently embark on journeys that lead them through various buildings, grade levels, and subject areas. This dynamic path allows them to amass a treasure trove of knowledge and experiences. Today, we introduce you to Ms. Glenn and Mrs. Hemphill, two exceptional educators whose careers have seamlessly adapted to the ever-changing landscape of education, all while nurturing a profound friendship.
Their educational voyage commenced in 2004, as Ms. Glenn and Mrs. Hemphill began their teaching careers at Franklin School. Mrs. Hemphill taught 4th-grade Science, while Mrs. Glenn taught Physical Education and Health.
As the years unfolded, their careers embarked on unique journeys. In 2007, Mrs. Hemphill transitioned to 1st grade within Franklin School, and by 2012, she had relocated to Schuyler School. 2015 marked the beginning of a new chapter as she embraced the role of teaching ASI Academic Support, helping students with reading and writing.
Ms. Glenn and Mrs. Hemphill's friendship remained unwavering throughout this period, even as their professional paths diverged.
However, fate had an extraordinary plan in store. In 2018, Mrs. Hemphill transitioned to Lincoln Middle School, where she began educating 7th and 8th-grade students, reuniting with Ms. Glenn, who had been a part of the Lincoln Middle School community since 2014. "I always wondered what it was like to teach the big kids," Mrs. Hemphill confessed, a testament to her unwavering commitment to personal and professional growth.
At Lincoln Middle School, they united to spearhead the Title 1 Family Involvement program, extending their influence beyond the school's walls and demonstrating dedication to fostering solid family-school relationships.
In addition to their illustrious careers, these friends possess unique talents. Since college, Ms. Glenn has coached gymnastics, infusing athleticism into her already impressive skill set. Conversely, Mrs. Hemphill brings a distinctive flair with her theater degree, showcasing the diversity education offers and the multifaceted talents of those who dedicate themselves to it.
As we celebrate the enduring friendship and extraordinary careers of Ms. Glenn and Mrs. Hemphill, we are reminded of the profound impact that teachers can have on their students, their communities, and each other. Their dedication, versatility, and unwavering friendship testify to the transformative power of education and the profound bonds it can create. We are immensely grateful to have them as invaluable educational community members.

In keeping with our commitment to providing a diverse range of extracurricular activities, we are delighted to announce the successful inaugural meeting of this year's LMS Anime Club. Under the leadership of Mr. Valera, students engaged in a viewing of an anime episode, selected by popular vote, and discussed the club's objectives moving forward. The club aims to explore prevalent themes in anime and deepen understanding of the genre. Meetings are scheduled to take place every other week, and we warmly encourage student participation.

The students in Mrs. Hemphill's ASI ELA classes recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month by highlighting the rich and diverse heritage, culture and traditions of Hispanics and Latinos. Each student researched an influential Hispanic Leader and created a pennant to highlight their lives. Students explored the education and accomplishments of these Hispanic Leaders who have made tremendous contributions to our society.
