
Garfield School-4th Grade. Mrs. Berberian's Reading Classes read a non-fiction book of their choice and made a poster including the 5 most interesting facts they learned. Each student had the opportunity to present their poster in class. Great job everyone!




Garfield School: In 5th grade Life Science, Ms. Harris’s students are learning about earthworms and decomposers. They played a mix and match game to learn their unit vocabulary and then collaborated with their peers to practice their comprehension skills. They are preparing to welcome their earthworms into their classroom this week!







Garfield School: Students in Ms. Seeley's second grade class took advantage of the nice weather and went outside for writing time. They are working on making sketches first and then using that to create their stories.

Garfield School: Mrs. Margiotta visited Mrs. Lazu's preschool class to my classroom and planted two plants with the children. She allowed the children to place soil into the pot. She also discussed what plants need to survive and compared it to what we need to survive as well.

Congratulations to the Garfield School Learning Ally Summer Reading Contest Winners and the Summer iReady Math Contest Winners! Great job!



On Friday night, the Garfield School PTA held a Back to School Dance for our families. It was a great night to get together and fun was had by all!











Garfield School: Students Summer Reading Celebration. All students who completed their Summer Reading assignments were rewarded for their dedication and passion for reading and learning! Activities included creating friendship bracelets, designings book marks, arts and crafts, and legos.











Garfield School's 4th, 5th, and 6th graders learned all about how they can join the band! They enjoyed an instrument demonstration where they were able to see and hear all of the instrument options they could choose from.






Garfield School: Students in third, fourth, and fifth grade visited the Garfield School Library's Starbooks Cafe. Students read and reviewed new texts in the library. All students who completed a book review were entered into a raffle to win a prize. Thanks Garfield School PTA's Mrs. Kozak for donating our Starbooks cups! Congratulations to our winners!










Garfield School: First and Second Graders visited the library for a game of Musical Books. Students danced around the tables and when the music stopped, they sat down to read a new book.









Garfield School thanks Kearny Elks for their generous donations which allowed the School Store Committee to open Rocky's Nest.
Rocky's Nest is an incentive based school store. Students are able to earn Garfield Dollars by working hard, demonstrating good behavior and making smart choices. Students can use Garfield Dollars to purchase awesome prizes at Rocky's Nest.

Garfield School welcomed families for Back to School Night. Sixth grade patrols sold snacks to fundraise for the school. PTA held their first meeting of the school year and successfully recruited new members. Family members wrote inspirational messages to their students, visited classrooms, and got to meet the staff. Thank you to the Garfield School Community!










Garfield School: Sixth Graders in Ms. Vicente's homeroom worked together to create a fun mural to brighten up the hallway and welcome families on Back to School Night.
