Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 25, schools will open on a delayed opening schedule. Students in grades PreK-6 should arrive by 10:00am and students in grades 7-12 should arrive by 9:50am.
The single session and professional development day for staff that was originally scheduled for tomorrow is canceled. Therefore, we will be following a regular dismissal time schedule. Students in grades PK-6 will dismiss at 3:03pm and students in grades 7-12 will dismiss at 2:38pm.
Breakfast and lunch will be served to students. There will be no Right at School morning care but there will be Right at School after care services.

Garfield’s 1st & 2nd graders visited the library this week for a reading of "Jabari Tries" and then teamed up in centers to design rockets and other creations. From brainstorming to building, students practiced perseverance, collaboration, and creative problem-solving—plus lots of giggles and big smiles! ✨📖🤝
Garfield School’s Mrs. Berberian’s 4th Grade Language Arts students just wrapped up their Amplify CKLA Poetry Unit—and what better way to celebrate than with a Poetry Slam!
Students selected their favorite poems and brought them to life by reading aloud with expression, tone, and emphasis. From dramatic pauses to powerful voices, the classroom was buzzing with confidence and creativity.

Garfield School is proud of our Student Council for organizing a cereal drive to benefit the local food pantry network, and we are even more grateful to our families for making it a success. Thank you for your generosity and for teaching our students the importance of supporting our neighbors. Together, we are making a difference!
The Garfield School Student Council did an excellent job organizing the Valentine's Day Dance for our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. It was wonderful to see our students come together and have such a great time!
The Kearny School District honors Presidents’ Day as we reflect on the leadership, vision, and service that have shaped our nation. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “It is true of the Nation, as of the individual, that the greatest doer must also be a great dreamer.” In our schools, we see the leaders of tomorrow. Garfield School: Mrs. Gerbasio's sixth graders started their forces and energy unit this week. The students took part in six different hands-on activities demonstrating different topics, including Newton's laws of motion, magnetic forces, and potential gravitational energy! Keep up the fun work!
Sweet Science! Second graders in Mrs. Mancuso's class at Garfield School conducted hands‑on experiments using conversation candy hearts! Students sorted, categorized, and graphed the candies by color. They also observed the hearts and how they dissolved in different liquids. We love science!
Our classroom door is full of heart! 💘 Big thanks to Mrs. Mercedes, Ms. Concepcion’s wonderful teacher aide, for decorating it so beautifully for Valentine’s Day. It’s such a warm, cheerful touch for our students!
