At the January Board meeting, 21 Kearny teachers were recognized for earning their ESL certifications through a partnership with Fairleigh Dickinson University. Of those 21 teachers, 11 also earned their Bilingual certification. Teachers and their families were invited to a reception followed by recognition at the Board meeting with a certificate. Congratulations to all these inspiring teachers for their notable accomplishments and for their dedication to our district's students!

Franklin School 4th graders had an enriching experience presenting their cultural heritage posters to their classmates. They showcased their ancestral roots, shared popular dishes, music, folk dances, traditional attire, and meaningful customs. Some even wore or displayed traditional outfits, explaining the significance behind their designs. They also highlighted famous figures from their cultures and passed-down stories, creating a vibrant celebration of diversity and tradition.
❄️It’s sweater weather season at Franklin School, and Mrs. Dematos' students have embraced the icy temps by computing long division problems to decorate a wintery sweater! ☃️
Franklin School: Mrs. McShane’s class enjoyed a Book Break with author Cece Bell. The question their class submitted was selected to be read on the live interview! So exciting! Great job!

Franklin School: KEEP Teachers Mrs. Kyak and Mrs. Melker invited some 4th graders to take on a frosty STEM challenge! ❄️ Using limited materials, they designed and built ski lift chairs to transport skiers up the mountain. Using only a few simple materials, they designed and built ziplines to help Little Red Riding Hood safely deliver her basket to Grandma.
