Franklin School: 📚✨ It’s been a fantastic Read Across America Week at Franklin School! Our students have been celebrating the joy of reading with fun activities, special stories, and lots of time spent with great books. We were also lucky to welcome wonderful retired Franklin teacher Deborah Lowry, who came in to read to our students. Her daughter, first grade teacher Caitlin Lowry, is also a proud Franklin Falcon! It’s been a very special week filled with many amazing guest readers. 📖❤️
Franklin School: Students in Mrs. Kyak’s 5th Grade KEEP classes recently completed an exciting unit on toys: exploring how they were invented, improved, and innovated over time.
Working in teams, students followed the design process to brainstorm, plan, and create their own brand new or improved toy! Each group built a model prototype and developed a creative advertisement to showcase their invention.
From problem-solving to collaboration to entrepreneurship, these students truly thought like innovators! We are so proud of their creativity and hard work. 🎉🧠✨

Ms. Klein’s MD class took their learning into the community today with a trip to ShopRite of Kearny! 🛒
Students worked hard on important life skills by following a shopping list, locating items throughout the store, and practicing appropriate walking in a public setting. They also did a wonderful job waiting patiently in line and even scanning their own groceries at checkout!
We are so proud of their independence, teamwork, and growth. Experiences like these help build confidence and real-world skills that will last a lifetime. Way to go, everyone! 👏💙

Ms. Klein’s MD class at Franklin had an amazing community-based instruction trip today! The students walked to Big Nick's where they practiced their communication and money skills in a real-life setting.
They worked hard ordering their food using different forms of communication and counting their money to pay. We are so proud of the independence, confidence, and growth they continue to show each time we go out into the community. They are all doing such a fantastic job! 👏✨

💖 Valentine’s Day was filled with smiles, laughter, and meaningful connections! 💖
The Franklin School Student Council, Safety Patrols, and Junior Peers had a wonderful visit to the Spruce Terrace Senior Center, where students and seniors spent time playing bingo, creating Valentine’s crafts, and socializing together. The joy in the room was truly contagious! To make the day even more special, there was a surprise performance by our very own librarian, Mrs. Melker, which brought big smiles and warm hearts all around.
A beautiful reminder of how a little kindness and community spirit can go a long way. đź’•

The Kearny School District honors Presidents’ Day as we reflect on the leadership, vision, and service that have shaped our nation. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “It is true of the Nation, as of the individual, that the greatest doer must also be a great dreamer.” In our schools, we see the leaders of tomorrow. May we continue to inspire our students to dream boldly and lead with courage and integrity.

Franklin School celebrated Crossing Guard Appreciation Day with a heartfelt gesture from our Student Council members, who created special cards to thank our dedicated crossing guards. The guards were also presented with certificates in recognition of their hard work and commitment to keeping our students safe each and every day. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Kearny Police Department, especially Officer Brady and Officer Miranda, for their continued support and partnership in helping ensure the safety of our school community.
