On Wednesday, September 28, at the Envue Hotel in Weehawken, NJ, Ariana Astorga, grade 8, was honored to represent Lincoln Middle School as the student representative from Kearny at the 2022 Write on Sports Gala.
Ariana introduced the 2022 Literacy Champion Tina Cervasio, WNYW-Fox 5 Lead Sports Anchor and Reporter.
Also in attendance were Kearny Write on Sports teachers Timothy Firth and Ryan Miller.
The Write on Sports program began in Lincoln Middle School as a summer camp in July 2021. It runs for 2-3 weeks each July, and is free of charge for Kearny students. The program teaches students sports, media, and print journalism.
Congratulations Joseph Drefko on becoming an Eagle Scout. Only 4% of scouts achieve this honor. Joe embodies the characteristics we look to develop in the Kearny School District. Hard work, perseverance and active citizenship in the community. š
