Congratulations to Garfield School's Achieve 3000 Weekly Top Scorers!

This Friday, March 24th. the Garfield School PTA is hosting a craft and vendor fair in the Garfield School gymnasium from 6:00-9:00 pm. All are welcome! Please enter the school through the doors by the playground.

Garfield School's 4th Graders each read a novel or chapter book and described the traits of the main character. They designed a bottle to look like the main character and presented their projects in class.

Garfield School: Ms. Curry's Kindergarten KEEP students completed a St. Patrick's day STEM challenge. The leprechaun lost his rainbow so they had to create a new one. Students worked together to come up with different ideas to solve the problem!

Garfield School: Mrs. Alfaro's first graders visited the library. Ms. Curry read them a story and they completed an interactive sequencing activity. They also checked out books.

Garfield School: The Kearny Fire Department came to visit Miss Pace’s Pre-K class to celebrate the end of the clothing study. The students learned all about what a firefighter wears as a uniform and even got to try out how to work the oxygen tank! Firefighter TJ Witt gave all of the students their very own firefighter helmets! Thank you Kearny Fire Department for such a fun experience.

Garfield School: Mrs. Lazu's class worked at home with their families to recreate a structure of their choice. Then they presented their project to the class to speak about the materials they used, why they picked that structure, and what is so special about the structure.

Garfield School thanks our community members for coming to read to our students for Read Across America Week! Sharing your love of reading helps motivate our students to grow and develop their passion for reading.

Garfield School: Fourth graders visit the library for a book tasting to read about countries all over the world. Students then chose a country to research for a project they are working in in class.

Garfield School: Mrs. Berberian's 4th grade writing classes learned all about adjectives while promoting "Kindness!" Students wrote an adjective to describe each of their classmates. After the students read the kind words their peers wrote about them, they chose 7 adjectives to write on rainbow strips. The classes were rewarded for their kindness by getting to make a festive art project to accompany the lesson. Everyone did a wonderful job! The projects are displayed in the hallway at Garfield School.
