Garfield School: Santa made a special visit to Garfield School, driving by to spread some festive cheer and wish all students a happy and healthy holiday season. The students were overjoyed to see Santa, waving and cheering as he passed by. It was a magical moment that brought smiles to faces and filled the air with excitement.








Garfield School had the privilege of nominating students who demonstrated exceptional citizenship to participate in the local "Shop with a Cop" event at Target. This rewarding experience allowed students to connect with local law enforcement officers in a positive setting while shopping for holiday gifts. Special thanks to the Kearny Police Department!

🔔Happy Holidays from the Kearny School District! All schools will be closed from 12/24 through 1/1/25. Schools will reopen on Thursday, January 2nd on a normal schedule.

Garfield School hosted its 4th annual virtual Holiday Story Time. We had 50-70 families join us for three nights as 12 special guest readers shared their favorite holiday stories with them.

Congratulations to the winners of Kearny School District's first-ever iReady reading contest! Students from each of our elementary schools participated in "12 Days of iReady," competing for the title of "top performing" class in each grade level by having the most passed lessons. Great job, readers!





Garfield School: In Mrs. Lonnay's ELA classes, students completed their IDR (Individualized Daily Reading) projects. Their projects about the novel included highlighting the book's main themes, characters, or a pivotal scene.




Garfield School: The gymnasium has been transformed! Holiday Light Bowling is one of the many activities students are participating in during the Winter Games Unit.







Garfield School: Ms. Benenati's little artists turned everyday items like plastic gloves, cups, and straws into festive holiday tree blow-up crafts. This is kindergarten ingenuity at its best!

Congratulations to Garfield School's November Students of the Month!

Today is Crossing Guard Appreciation Day! Garfield School recognized our crossing guard, Pamela Washington for keeping our students safe while walking to and from school. The Junior Peers showered her with cards that were signed by all of our students, and the Hudson County Improvement Authority awarded Pamela with a plaque. A special thanks to KPD Lt. Rakowski for attending the ceremony and recognizing Pamela's contribution to our community.






Garfield School: Mrs. Gerbasio's 6th-grade classes are making board games that demonstrate competition in the wild. Her classes are learning about ecosystems and the types of organism interactions.





In honor of World Wildlife Conservation Day, the Lincoln Middle School EcoSchools cohort visited Garfield School's second graders to engage in a vibrant coloring activity. The LMS students crafted coloring books made from hand-drawn sketches of endangered species. Special thanks to Mrs. Cristalli for coordinating this event!🐼🐅
