A professional visited the Broadcasting classes today:
Today Mr. Zack Carlascio visited the KHS Broadcasting students to present a workshop on the use of lighting, shot framing, and composition to create emotion through cinematography. Zack presented a PowerPoint presentation for the students that engaged them in an active discussion on their interpretation of scenes from various hit series and films.
Together we led the class in a worksheet activity to reinforce what they learned before transitioning to a hands-on demonstration. During the demonstration, Zack worked with student volunteers to demonstrate the lighting process step by step using his professional equipment including RGB lighting and 4K camera.
The students tremendously benefited from hearing Zack's personal experiences in the industry, listening to his lecture on the importance of lighting and framing in film, and participating in his demonstration.
Great Job!!!

Yesterday at Kearny High School, students had the opportunity to learn more about Kean University. Daniel Flores Caceres, an admissions representative from the university, gave students an overview of the college's academic programs, majors/career paths, scholarship opportunities, and campus life. Students participated in discussions and asked relevant questions which helped them glean more insight into what life at the university is like!
Thank you to the Counseling Department!!

The KHS Auto 1 and Auto 2 classes went on a field trip to UTI in Bloomfield NJ and to Cummings Motors in Kearny. Students in both classes had the opportunity to visit a highly regarded school in the automotive and diesel industry for a possible post secondary education in those fields. Students got a first hand look of the experience and knowledge they would receive if they attended the school. Kearny currently has an articulation with UTI and a valued relationship to help students become successful technicians in the automotive/diesel world.
Very Nice!!!

KHS:
In Ms. Biondo's class, Mr. Pat Verile an associate from Berkeley college admissions and community relations came in to their class today to speak to the students regarding healthcare programs offered and campus life at Berkeley.

Ms. Marshall’s Freshman Seminar classes took a walk back in time, exploring past Kearny High yearbooks in the Media Center. During their nostalgic journey, they utilized this time to think about which has changed at KHS and what has stood the test of time. To culminate their activity, they wrote a reflective letter to their senior selves about their predicted accomplishments during their time at KHS and captioned senior quotes!

Our dedicated dental assisting students hone their skills through hands-on practice with Almagam fillings, demonstrating their passion for helping their future patients achieve healthy and beautiful smiles.
