Kearny High School Selected for Inclusion in Varsity Yearbook's Portfolio Volume 30
Kearny High School is proud to announce its yearbook has been selected for inclusion in Varsity Yearbook’s prestigious Portfolio — a showcase celebrating the most exceptional yearbooks in the country printed by Varsity Yearbook.
This honor places Kearny High School among just 617 schools featured in this year’s volume, out of which more than 2,100 examples were thoughtfully curated.
Portfolio highlights yearbooks that demonstrate consistent excellence in both verbal and visual elements, exemplary coverage and top-notch photography. Representing the top books printed by Varsity Yearbook, this collection reflects the passion, skill and collaboration behind each yearbook staff.
This award marks the third consecutive honor for our Yearbook advisor, Ms. Dlugosh!




On Thursday May 15th, KHS Broadcasting students Jasmine Viera, Aurora Latona, Rebecca Fontes, Mauricio Gomez, and Gabriela Novillo participated in the 2025 High School Film Challenge and Workshop at Jackson Liberty High School with Mr. Miller. The students attended workshops from industry professionals on cinematography, horror film special effects, and social media branding. The students also created a 3 minute short to compete alongside other schools, compared techniques and resources, shared work, and asked questions to the guests. The students received feedback, as well as career and field advice.


KHS Broadcasting would like to thank today's guest speakers Kalleen Rose Ozanic and Kerry Golden for their time. Conducted with an in-person and virtual session respectively, the guests provided unique journalism, television, and media industry knowledge and insight.

KHS:
Hudson County Community College held its 2025 Commencement Exercises on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Sports Illustrated Arena in Harrison, NJ. Kearny High School is proud to say that we had several students participate in the program.





Mr. Vega's honors forensic science students at Kearny High conducted an external ballistics lab, in which they determined the muzzle velocity of Nerf darts and calculated the trajectory of the projectiles at different angles.






On May 20th, Kearny High School proudly held its first induction ceremony for the National Mathematics Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. This event marked the establishment of our inaugural charter, dedicated to recognizing excellence in mathematics.
During the ceremony, 30 senior students were formally inducted into the society, celebrating their academic achievements and passion for mathematics. As founding members of our chapter, these students pave the way for future scholars and set a strong precedent for mathematical excellence within our school community.
Congratulations to all inductees and look forward to the continued success of Mu Alpha Theta at our school.
