On Wednesday, February 19th, KHS students in the 9th grade Environmental Science course attended the History and Science: Understanding the Passaic River and Newark Bay presentation by Mr. Chris Brooks, the multimedia program coordinator for the educational outreach program at Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC). The presentation explored the rich industrial history of the Passaic River and Newark Bay, highlighting their significance as urban waterways. Students learned about the historical role of the PVSC Wastewater Treatment Facility and how PVSC's mission to protect the Lower Passaic River and its tributaries has expanded to include the River Restoration Crew and, most importantly, dedicated volunteers such as high school students and other community stakeholders.
