KHS:
On March 9th 2024 the KHS Concert Band had the privilege of performing at the Bloomfield Youth Band concert at Bloomfield Middle School. Patrick Burns is the founder and director of BYB for almost four decades. Mr. Burns is not only the founder of the youth band, he is also a world renowned composer. The members of the youth band consist of many high school and elementary students from all over New Jersey. Over the years as director and founder, Mr. Burns has seen many students in the youth band become successful music educators, doctors, lawyers, and many other professions!






KHS:
Last night was the first inaugural Kearny Ice Hockey Alumni Game featuring coaches and players spanning 2009 - 2023. Great times were had by all, and an intense training regimen has already been implemented to prepare for next year's event. Thanks to all the players, families and fans that came out for this fantastic event and continuing to support Kearny ice hockey.

On Saturday, March 9th, our ESL/Multilingual families joined us at the Kearny Public Library to celebrate Read Across America. Students participated in library BINGO and created a bookmark. To encourage reading, new books were raffled off. A special thank you to Mr. Humphrey from the KPL for welcoming us into the library and providing the space to host this event.

The parade stepped off at 1:00pm in Harrison and ended on Quincy Street in Kearny. Great day full of pride! The Senior Teen PEP organized a community workshop involving students and parents to discuss topics such as sex, gender, and sexuality. Emphasizing the impact of personal values and attitudes on parental guidance, the workshop highlighted the crucial role parents and trusted adults play in providing teenagers with necessary guidance regarding decisions about sex and sexuality. Effective communication with parents and other trusted adults is identified as essential in preventing sexually transmitted infections, HIV, and teenage pregnancy.
