KHS: Students at Kearny High School had the opportunity to sit down with Carlos Tejeda Urena, an admissions representative from New Jersey City University. Mr. Tejeda Urena gave an overview of the college's academic programs, majors/career paths, scholarship opportunities, and campus life. Students participated in discussions and asked relevant questions which helped them glean more insight into what life at the university is like! Thank you to the Guidance Department!!!

KHS: In Mrs. Rebelo’s ESL students were working on developing -WH questions with the verb "be" together. Given an answer, they had to write a -WH question. They had to check each other to make sure each they had a -WH Question word and the verb "be" correctly written based on the information (subject). Part of their Do Now! was to listen to a short text to answer 6 -WH questions.

KHS: On Saturday, October 14th, the KHS medical students braved the soaking rain to travel to Verona Park. They were tasked with setting up the park for the statewide walk for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It was their annual Light The Night walk to raise funds for blood cancers. One of the event coordinators reached out to see if the students of KHS were interested in assisting the day of the walk. Thirty-five students volunteered from the medical class and showed up to work in different shifts. They were given different tasks such as putting together lanterns to be released over the lake as well as decorate the tents and set up lighting for the walkways. Students received community service hours and certificates. The event coordinators were so impressed with the students from Kearny High School that they asked if they could come to some of the other events. The rain did not deter the students. They were so determined to complete their jobs and did a phenomenal job. Thanks to the Kearny Board of Education for providing us with transportation to get us to and from the park. Great Job everyone!!!!!!
