On Friday, September 6th, Kearny High School began its pep rally with the 23rd annual 9/11 Flag Raising and Remembrance Ceremony. Led by Marty Nystrom and featuring families of Kearny residents who lost their lives in the attacks, the ceremony offered a moment to reflect and honor those from Kearny affected by the tragedy. We will never forget. 🕊️

The third annual Faculty Field Day, held on September 3, 2024, centered around teacher wellness. The event began with a keynote address by Dr. Katie Peters, who emphasized the value of kindness and empathy. Following the keynote, teachers participated in various wellness activities, including yoga, yard games, walking, painting, cooking, and more. The day concluded with a lively pop-up performance by Appetite for Instruction, an all-faculty band featuring Marlaina Melker on vocals, James Sickinger on guitar, John Kubowicz on keyboard, Jeremy Gorin on saxophone, and Salvatore Coffaro on drums. Pop! Snap! Perform! Kearny High School's Summer Enrichment program ended with a bang! Our talented students showcased their skills in comic strips, pop art, and live performances. Under the guidance of our dedicated teachers, they explored science, math, ELA, tech, musical theater, dance, band, and auto in exciting new ways. Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Vella, and Mr. Conde directed amazing performances, while Ms. Donnelly and Mr. Costello curated stunning art displays. Our ESL students shone bright thanks to Ms. Kryshak-Baptista and Ms. Avecillas. Ms. Tejedor brought science to life, Ms. Serino made math fun, and Mr. Torre, Mr. Morgan, and Mr. Ribeiro seamlessly blended ELA, tech, and automotive maintenance. The program's success underscores the importance of diverse, engaging educational opportunities in preparing students for future academic and professional pursuits. The culminating event, where students presented their work to families and peers, demonstrated the power of arts education in developing well-rounded individuals. We're immensely proud of our students' hard work and our faculty's innovative teaching approaches. See you again next summer! https://youtu.be/cGlgJ_412pY https://youtu.be/sv3kDwewsbw https://youtu.be/mFZhkoaSGKc https://youtu.be/cGlgJ_412pY Thank you Mrs. Hoch and her team!!!
