Happy new year!  I am excited to share that my second year architecture student, junior Mia Martinez won a silver award for her entry in the AIA Newark and Suburban Architects Holiday Contest. The contest called for students to create a design which incorporated some form of architecture with a holiday theme.
In addition to winning a $25 Amazon gift card, Mia's work, along with the other winners, will be featured in an art exhibition at the Newark Public Library, opening January 20, 2024. I have shared a copy of her entry along with a link to the site.

The TCNJ Honors Festival 2023 was held on Sunday, November 19 at 4:00PM in the Kendall Mainstage Theatre. The Gold Ensemble, Blue Ensemble and Jazz Band played.

Gold Ensemble Program:

Florentiner March Julius Fucik/arr. Lake

At Twilight Tyler Grant

Cajun Folk Songs LaBelle et le Capitaine, Belle Frank Ticheli

Conductors: Eric Laprade & Adam Warshaksky

Mr Danny Conde nominated Fifteen KHS Concert Band students for the Honor Band.  Those students auditioned and 5 students were selected for the Gold Ensemble.

The students selected were:

Rossy Ramirez, 9th grader, flute

Brandon Maddatu-Wong, 12th grader (High-Tech), Baritone Saxophone

Sarah, Fonseca, 10th grader, Oboe

Joseph Gallegos, 10th grader, Trombone

Allany Quinones, 10th grader ( unfortunately, Allany was unable to participate),  Clarinet

These students were selected for the Gold Ensemble.  They gave up countless hours to attend workshops and rehearse with top notch conductors from TCNJ!  It was a phenomenal experience to play with highly skilled students from all over NJ and PA. There were forty high schools that participated.

Mr. Conde continually affords his students opportunities that embody the highest level of play while acquiring remarkable sight reading skills!  Kudos to Mr. Conde and his extraordinary students.  The concert was amazing!
