    In accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act, P.L. 1975c 231, this is to advise that the Kearny Board of Education will hold a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, June 289, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room – 1st Floor, 172 Midland Avenue, Kearny, N.J. Upon opening the meeting, the Board will take action to enter into Executive Session. Action may be taken.

  • Regular Meeting Kearny Board of Education and Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to the Superintendent's co

    In accordance with N.J.S.A.  18A:11-11 and N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-3.1, and after having received the approval of the Interim Executive Hudson County Superintendent of a proposed amendment to the District's Superintendent's contract, a public hearing will be held on the proposed amendment to the contract at the end of the Board's regular meeting which is scheduled for July 17, 2017 which meeting is noticed as follows:  In accordance with Open Public Meetings Act, P.L. 1975c 231, The Kearny Board of Education will hold its Regular Board Meeting on July 17, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room, 1st Floor, 172 Midland Avenue, Kearny, New Jersey 07032. Upon opening the meeting, the Board will take action to enter into Executive Session and reconvene in Public at 7:00 p.m. Action will be taken.

     The agenda to the extent known is: Regular Monthly Board Meeting and Public Hearing on a proposed amendment to the Superintendent's contract.  The public hearing will occur prior to the Board taking action on the proposed amendment to the Superintendent's contract.

  • Board of Education Election

    The election for members of the Kearny Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

    The deadline for filing to seek a seat on the nine member board is July 31, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

    Nominating petitions are available from the Office of the County Clerk – Elections Division between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The County Clerk is located at 257 Cornelison Ave., 4th Floor, Jersey City, NJ  07302. The contact number is 201-369-3470 extension 2767 or option 6.

    There are two (2) seats available each for a term of three (3) years which will be voted upon.

    Candidates filing a nominating petition for board membership must meet the following qualifications:

    • He/she is a citizen of the United States of America
    • He/she must be at least 18 (eighteen) years of age to qualify for office
    • He/she must be able to read and write
    • He/she has been a resident of the municipality from which he/she is to be elected for at least one (1) year preceding the date of the election
    • He/she is not disqualified as a voter pursuant to N.J.S.A. 19:4-1
    • He/she is a registered voter in the district
    • Not hold office as a mayor or member of the governing body of the same district
    • He/she is not disqualified from membership on the Board due to conviction of a crime or offense listed in N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1
    • He/she has no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the Board

To enter Pre-K, children MUST be 4 years old on or before October 1ST. To enter Kindergarten, children MUST be 5 years old on or before October 1st.

Parent or legal guardian is to be present at time of registration.

          Original /Certified Birth Certificate - no photocopies (Office will make photocopy)

          Verification of parent or Guardian:

          Parent’s Identification

          Custody/Divorce papers if applicable

          Legal guardianship papers from U.S. Court for those persons other than the parents who               have custody of the child and reside in Kearny ( Notarized Letters are unacceptable)

          Proof of residence:

Homeowners:  must produce a deed or tax bill from the town of Kearny or mortgage papers for the property.

Renters : must produce a lease ( with landlord’s phone number) or Form “A” that must be signed and notarized  

All applicants must also produce three (3) original (Office will make copy) pieces of mail within thirty (30) days    including but not limited to: .

  • Current P.S.E & G bill

  • Current telephone/cell phone bill

  • Paycheck stub w/current address

  • Official mail ( Government Agency)

  • Bank statement w/current address
