It's a Bear Market at Washington School

Several bears, a monkey, a lion and a dolphin needed a home, a home where they would be useful and loved. Fortunately all these animals were new stuffed toys and through the efforts of several people these animals were herded off to Washington Elementary School in Kearny, New Jersey where Ms. Zulewski, the teacher and the students of the pre-kindergarten program with open arms, welcomed them.

This was a joint effort of two organizations - AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary #30 Nutley and Kempton Council #1545. The toys were originally donated to Rosetta D'Aries of AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary #30 for use in one of their programs. Not being able to use these stuffed animals for their intended purpose Peggy Rummel and Past Grand Regent Rosella Berger decided they would be ideal for a pre-kindergarten program. So it was off to Washington School in Kearny where they will join last year's donation of dolls for the purpose of teaching these young students. Ms. Denise Zulewski will use these stuffed animals to teach a thematic unit on bears.

Mrs. Rosella Berger and Mrs. Denise Zulewski team up to teach about bears to the pre-kindergarten students. They can't "bear" to part with the cuddly creatures.
