PERSONNEL ISSUES
A. RETIREMENT
Mr. Thomas Burns, a Teacher of English at Kearny High School, has informed me
that he will retire effective July 1, 2003 after thirty years of service to the
Kearny Board of Education.
B. RESIGNATION
Mrs. Nancy Ciano, a Learning Disabilities Teacher/Consultant, has informed me
that she has resigned from her position, effective July 1, 20033.
B. APPOINTMENTS
1. Teachers
I recommend the following be appointed effective September 1, 2003. Data sheets
are attached.

12. Summer Child Study Team
I recommend the appointment of the following to the Summer Child Study Team to
replace Mrs. Josephine Vogt who is unable to accept the position.
Mr. Robert Sarch - LDT/C
Remuneration is $29 per hour for 20 days, 6 hours per day from July 1 to July
29, 2003, excluding July 4.
J. EQUIVALENCY
The Equivalency Board of Review has recommended the granting of the following
equivalencies:

I recommend the Board approve emergent hiring for the following:

NON-PERSONNEL ISSUES
A. CHILD ASSAULT PREVENTION GRANT APPLICATION
I recommend the Board approve the Child Assault Prevention Grant Application in
the amount of $15,171 and a request for exemption for the 25% matching funding
requirement. The CAP Program is a community prevention program, a project of the
Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, teaching children to prevent
verbal, physical and sexual assault.
F. 2001/02 MEDICAL REPORT
I have enclosed the 2002/03 Medical Report submitted by Head Nurse, Mrs. Barbara
Einsiedler.

I would like to enter into Executive Session to discuss personnel matters.
