Kearny Education Foundation, Inc.

The Kearny Education Foundation, Inc. (KEFI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the educational experience of students in the Kearny School District .Since many of Kearny 's teachers and administrators successfully completed their elementary and high school years in Kearny Public Schools, we believe they know first-hand the value of this education.

In the last several years, the number of longstanding corporation closings has severely diminished Kearny 's tax base, consequently limiting public funds available for Kearny schools. KEFI was formed in an effort to establish public-private partnerships, knowing that continued success of Kearny 's schools benefits all, including the corporate, school, and citizen-taxpayer communities.

One goal of KEFI is to provide funding for academic, arts, and athletic programs which supplement those of the District. In recent years, state mandated but unfunded requirements have placed a further strain on the school budget.

At this time, we are accepting proposals from the District for mini-grants. These proposals will be considered on a rolling basis, and we will attempt to respond within 30 to 60 days, allowing time for discussion at our monthly meetings. Please invite teachers and administrators to consider applying for a mini-grant; application forms are enclosed and may be reproduced. In addition to proposals, we would appreciate any suggestions from faculty and staff.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please e-mail jmckeown@kearnyschools.com or write to us at the below address.

Sincerely,
