PSE&G Speaks to SBYS

On February 24th, School Based Youth Services hosted a workshop by Public Service Electric & Gas Co. where careers at PSE&G were presented to 35 of students participating in the School Based Youth Services program.

Presenters were Chandra Ledford, Enterprise Outreach Specialist, Mike McLaren, District Manager - Gas Distribution, John Fallon, Service Supervisor, and Charlie Vega, Service Supervisor. Mr. Vega, Mr. Fallon and Mr. McLaren spoke about how they became employed at PSE&G and what career path they took to get where they are today.

As supervisors and managers, they spoke about what they look for in a good employee and what kind of skills one needs to be successful. Students were advised that they all need a resume and how important that it accurately reflects their skills and talents. A video was shown that highlighted some of the jobs available at PSE&G.

Each student was given a stress light bulb and a Pocket Pal Diary. The students were quite impressed as they talked about the presentation to their teachers. They not only enjoyed this presentation, but benefited from it. The SBYS Program is administered by Jeannie MacConchie and Adele Higgins.
