RECORDING DEVICES

PURPOSE

         The Kearny Board of Education recognizes the need to protect a student’s right to privacy and ensure student safety.  This Policy thus governs class recordings made for student use, in all cases except when recording is of student performances such as plays or concerts.  This Policy does not apply to recordings of events other than classes.

GUIDELINES

        Students must request permission of the instructor to record a class.  Any type of recording, video, audio, or other applicable format, requires:

1.                The consent of the instructor.

2.                Notification be given to all parties involved.

These terms are set forth to protect student and teacher privacy and do not apply to Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 provisions.
