AGE
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION TO KEARNY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
PRE-SCHOOL
Children who are four (4) years of age on or before
October 1st of the year in which they are enrolled in school are eligible to
enter pre-school.
KINDERGARTEN
Children who are five (5) years of age on or before
October 1st of the year in which they are enrolled in school are eligible to
enter kindergarten.
FIRST GRADE
Children who are six (6) years of age on or before
October 1st of the year in which they are enrolled in school are eligible to
enter first grade.
CHILDREN TRANSFERRING FROM A CHILD CARE PROGRAM OR
HOME SCHOOLING
Children who transfer to our pre-school, kindergarten or
grade 1 from home schooling or child care programs licensed by the Department of
Human Services will need to meet our age qualifications, as well as have their
status evaluated utilizing multiple educational criteria as determined by the
superintendent.
