SCHOOL BASED YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAM
EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST
1. CERTIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
n Possess a CIE Certificate
n Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
n Strong background as evidenced by course work and/or student and adult experience in job placement and employability skills training, experience with negotiations between student and employer
2. JOB DESCRIPTION
n Supervise the placement of students within the work force
n Supervise the placement of students for job shadowing
n Consult with the business community for the development of job opportunities
n Consult with counselors, administrators and teachers to develop a functional plan to clarify career goals
n Arrange for and conduct career seminars
n Develop partnership with businesses
n Assist students in developing an individual career profile
n Assist students in enhancing their knowledge of the current job market trends
n Confer regularly with the principal regarding all phases of the program
n Be available to meet with parent groups to discuss various issues
n Perform other duties and special assignments consistent with this position as delegated by the Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent
