Policy

                                                             LUNCH PROGRAM

It is the policy of the Board of Education that the Kearny School District participate in any Federal or State subsidized food program for the benefit of eligible pupils.  Pupil eligibility shall be as determined by the guidelines of the subsidizing agency.  The Board of Education requires that all regulations of the subsidizing agency be observed especially those which preserve the privacy of eligible pupils.

The Board of Education adopts as its own the free and reduced-price policy developed by the Bureau of Child Nutrition pursuant to Federal regulation.  The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the administration and operation of the school lunch program in keeping with Federal and State Laws and the policies and directives of the Board of Education.

The Kearny Board of Education believes that the education and supervision of children is a joint responsibility -- one that is shared with the parents/guardians and the school community.  The Board considers lunch time activities to be an integral part of the total educational program.
