JOB DESCRIPTION
ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
1.
The Principal shall be responsible to the Superintendent for the overall
organization and administration of the building to which he or she is assigned.
2.
The Principal is responsible for the supervision of all professional
personnel assigned to his or her school.
3.
The Principal is responsible for the supervision of the janitorial and
maintenance personnel as a shared responsibility with the Board Secretary.
4.
The Principal shall keep the Superintendent completely informed of the
condition of the schools and activities therein.
5.
The Principal shall work cooperatively with the teaching staff for the
best interests of the pupils.
6.
The Principal shall be responsible for the development of the curriculum
and for planning and adapting the courses of study to the needs and interests of
the pupils within the framework of the educational philosophy of the district.
7.
The Principal shall confer with the Superintendent on the assignment of
the teaching staff within his or her building.
8.
The Principal shall be responsible for the classification, promotion or
retention of all pupils within his or her school.
9.
The Principal shall continually appraise and evaluate the instructional
program.
10.
The Principal shall be responsible for requisitioning supplies,
textbooks, equipment and all materials necessary for the operation of the
school.
11.
The Principal shall be responsible for fire drills, air raid drills,
school enterprises and activities, parent-teacher organizations, faculty
meetings and school exhibits.
12.
The Principal shall be responsible for organizing the playgrounds,
lunchrooms and noon hour activities in the best interests of the pupils.
13.
The Principal shall submit a written evaluation of those teachers on his
staff not under tenure and such other evaluations as may be requested by the
Superintendent.
14.
The Principal shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the
Superintendent of Schools.
