                                                            JOB DESCRIPTION

                                                  DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         A minimum of three years classroom teaching experience.

2.         An earned Master’s Degree.

3.         A New Jersey Supervisor’s Certificate.

4.         Demonstrates leadership capabilities in the areas of curriculum, staff

development and implementing technology in an educational environment. 

Evidence of strong technology program development and budget planning. 

Funding experience preferred.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Technology shall assume the responsibilities of implementing an educationally sound technology environment throughout the district.  In addition, he/she shall coordinate activities related to business technology and life skills with the appropriate department chairs.  This is a twelve-month position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Comply with and implement all school rules and regulations, Board policy and New

Jersey State Department of Education regulations relative to technology.

2.         Responsible for assisting with public relations and articulation agreements with the

community, post secondary institutions, and the business sector.

3.         Assists in the planning of workshops and in-service training for teachers in area of the

use of technology.

4.         Assists in coordinating curriculum matters with department chairpersons when there

are implications for the technology programs.

5.         Shall be responsible for the assisting in the formation of advisory committees for

programs in area of responsibility.

6.         Responsible for applications, evaluation and maintenance of records for County, 

State and Federal occupational education/technology funds.

7.         Responsible for the State/Federal plan for occupational education/technology

in the following areas:

--         Distributive Education   --         Health Occupations

--         Consumer Homemaking            --         Office Occupations

--         Technical                                  --         Trades and Industry

--         Cooperative Education --         Technology Education

--         Work Study                             --         Disadvantaged and Handicapped

--         And all other plans in the area of responsibility.

8.         Responsible for disbursement of awarded funds and the implementation of approved programs.

9.         Responsible for the purchase, maintenance and inventory of all technology equipment.

10.       Supervise the processing of applications for working papers.

11.       Supervise the school year and summer work-study programs and students.

12.       Assist in implementing and supervising the State mandated vocational testing.

13.       Implement and supervise the safety regulations in areas of responsibilities.

14.       Perform all other duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the position

as assigned by the superintendent or designee.

15.       Assists in the maintenance planning and selection of computer equipment and related

technology.

16.       Assists in coordinating the technicians and network facilitators throughout the district.

17.       Consult with teachers and administrators regarding the use of technology with

instructional materials and the curriculum.

18.       Supervise and coordinate the implementation and revisions to technology throughout

the district.

19.       Provide current information with regard to technology uses in the curriculum.

20.       Confer regularly with principals regarding all phases of technology.

21.       Serve as a resource person for central office administration.

22.       Organize all committee meetings that deal with selection or appropriate changes of

technology in the district.

23.       Be available to meet with parent groups to discuss the various areas of elementary and

secondary technology issues.
